Some engines I keep for some reason
a) strength
b) style
c) historical value
I keep the latest Bright around because among all the engines it is the one that plays the most incomprehensible chess. Chess Tiger 14 plays the clearest. I can follow Chess Tiger 14's moves like a book, and not get lost. It builds up strong positions and wins them most of the time, slowly and methodically. Bright simply makes my head spin.
I've posted some games of Bright before. He tends to complicate matters very quickly and the resulting positions can look really weird and bizarre. For those looking for a 'crazy' sparring partner, bright qualifies. Thinker is quite another. It plays more 'beautiful' chess than Bright, and often makes great looking sacrifices. Bright tends to lead his opponents to dangerous uncharted waters and often comes out alive.
I might put up a new website of my own, and include there a computer chess portion.
Take a look at his latest game vs Fritz 7.

That would be a good idea Michael having a computer chess page with games of these tactical engines like Thinker, Bright etc... Im a fan of these Tal like engines.

I'm very interested in programs' style of play and have made observations about it over the last 15 years.
I wonder what your opinions are of the top commercial progs?

You are welcome to create your own pages at the Computer-Chess Wiki. For free! It has built-in support for showing fen diagrams and has easy wiki syntax for bold/italic, size/style, etc. Just register and start creating! If you run into troubles trying to use the wiki you can email me for help. I can create a private area for you so no one else can modify your pages. If you are not interested, that's okay: many people prefer to have their own site instead.

Nice to hear that you appreciate Bright's unique perspective
As to why it plays the way it plays, I am not sure...
King safety was revamped in version 0.4a and includes some
new concepts that can dominate the evaluation quite easily.
On the other hand, I have actually gone to some lengths to tune
Bright's evaluation weights to match human GM evaluations.

Great engine, Allard... but if you find the time,
can you correct the nps number (it's given in meganodes/sec, rounded, instead of the usual kilonodes/sec)

Hi Allard,
I have to say that I like your engine very much.It is a lot of fun to play and has a lot of surprises in it's repertoire.
Any hint when your next engine is going to be released.
Hope to have even more fun with the new Bright.
Best wishes.
