If I read this right, it's taking you 7-9 minutes to get through ply 14, which indicates something is badly wrong with your branching factor.

Arasan is not very fast in the endgame but still it is past ply 14 in a few seconds. Version 11.4 finds Rf5+ at depth 19 (around 2.5 minutes). Not sure why it needs more depth than other programs.

louis - are you able to easily disable hyperthreading on your mac pro? someone asked about that at the rybka forum & essentially was told by lukas it's possible but not really plausible.

 That is interesting Harun, if Fritz 11 does not find Rf5+ then I think Fritz 10 or earlier maybe has better chances! Fritz 11 does play the Rookcheck-move I see, but only on move 38 after the two nonessential half-moves 37.Rg2 Rd7.

Maybe it is a Zugzwang problem that plays a role, I'm not positively sure. Vincent Diepeveen claimed recently in the programmers subforum that Frans Morsch Fritz uses his double nullmove technique, or at least Frans approved of the technique, to detect Zugzwang but this may not be true then with the latest Fritz engines :). Anyway, remarkable that it takes Deep Frans err Fritz 30 plies, at least. What else can it be than a Zugzwang problem? Thanks for the analysis!
