Elostat recommended start elo

Post by mhalstern »

It appears that if I use a recommended 2400 start elo, the results are very close to the Fritz 11 Rating feature.

Is this universally accepted as a norm by testers?

Any number works. Ratings across rating pools are meaningless. Absolute ratings are meaningless. The only useful information is the difference in rating between any two opponents, which can be used to statistically predict the outcome of a game or match between them.
