Hi all,
on Jim Ablett's site is available Stockfish 1.6.2, together with a dedicated new opening book just made by Salvo Spitaleri and customized for Stockfish.
http://homepages.tesco.net/henry.ablett/jims.html
This is a maintenance release that fixes an issue with gcc when compiling with option -O3, IOW fixes an issue under Linux, Windows users are not affected.
This release is 100% functional and speed equivalent to 1.6, so testers can keep the results of 1.6 matches so far because 1.6.2 and 1.6 are identical
The work of Dann Corbit has NOT been integrated in this release, but will end up in the next release, this to guarantee 1.6.2 and 1.6 to be the same performance-wise.
We would like to thank all the people in the technical forum that helped us to come up with the right fix, and was not easy !
Also special thank to Jim Ablett that spent these days to guarantee 1.6.2 has the same speed of 1.6 so that testers will not waste the effort till now.
Happy new year to everybody
The SF Team

Re: Stockfish 1.6.2
Hi Marco!
I had asked earlier about the Stockfish and the analyze game mode in the Shredder 12 GUI. The problem being that Stockfish would not enter it's analysis in that particular mode. That was 1.5.
I just though that I would let you know that for whatever reason Stockfish 1.6 is working perfectly and does NOT have that problem in the Shredder 12 GUI.
Thanks for a great engine!
