A New Name for Doch....

I have taken 2 letters from Don's name, 2 of Larry K's so it came up as ''Dark Man''...

nice name but my favorite is Achilles.
Thinking on Troy.

Look in the playing strength of Stockfish (one of my favorits, nice engine, great developement).

Look here in the endgame ... one of the best !!

Now compare it with Doch ... you can see Stockfish is around 150 ELO in endgames stronger.

Now you can see the potential the program Doch will have for the future. Absolutely clear an Achilles is born.

And after all:
Nobody can hold over years the first place, can be the best (see Achilles) but the name Achilles nobody will forget.

My favorite name for Doch is: ACHILLES !!!

The same problem Germans have with "doch" English speakers have with "Achilles".

Perhaps Achilles have an other english notation.

I mean the greatest Greek hero of the Trojan War.
Achilles - Greek Hero at Troy.

I think Achilles is well understand in our culture. What does Doch mean in german? Is it a bad work like a swear or cuss word in english?

The best name a chess program have is AnMon, half Angel half Demon. I like it, the engine too

Stockfish is in my opinion a bad name too.

For Stockfish I think:
IRO Capablanca
(in remembrance of = IRO)

I wrote:

I made an interview with the programmer only

Doch in German for:
'Yes I do"
or yet / though

filler word !!

So the German user means ... translated in English ...

Doch Frank, ich kann (German)
Yes I can do Frank ... (English) and he wrote his opinion ...

Hi Damir,

yes I remember. I wrote a little bit for Vladan and his work for us. He need it for the uni and his prof.. Vladan helps us with the Axon Test (Arena developement). Axon test is based on a program by Vladan.

At this times Vladan develops an Engine and I wrote him ... give the engine the name Achilles. But the engine is never released.

Right, I forget it ...

If you have played as much as i have done this new program by Don, you will agree with me that it is too strong and special to have such vacuous name as it has now. Maybe we could propose some alternatives and perhaps Don could be tempted by one of them.
In my case, considering the crushing ability to get you fast, I would call it "Killer".
Surely there are many other better names.

If you come up with a good name I might indeed be tempted. I never intended to stick with the name "Doch" anyway.

I always like the name Socrates. How about Diogenes? Since this program is legit it will keep playing looking for an honest program to play against
