Does anyone still have a 1 GHz Pentium III?

Post by LiquidNitrogenOverclocker »

I'm looking for a "baseline" result for my checkers benchmark. I see even the Fritz9 chess benchmark uses a 1 GHz PIII as its "floor" for comparisons.

If anyone does have a 1 GHz PIII, please let me know if you would be willing to run the benchmark at:

I would appreciate it!

Thanks.

I recently rebuilt a AMD 450 Mhz computer just for the hell of it ... well actually it was to try to see if I can reach a point where I have a chance against an engine. Unfortunately for me that still hasn't helped ... maybe I can find a 1 Mhz system on eBay 8-)

Majid,

Even chessgenius 3 on a 386 16 mhz is way too strong for 99,9% or the humans

Best wishes,

André

P.S. Oops, I read 1 GHZ instead of 1 Mhz

Well if either of you come across a 1 GHz PIII and run my bechmark on it, I'd appreciate it.

I'd doing the opposite, building very fast systems (4.5 GHz and up) using some overclocking methods to supercool the computer. Like this:

..and using Liquid Nitrogen...

Hi,

I have it :-)
But 8 years not used,
Dual Core 1GHz Pentium III
Used it for DeepShredder vs. The World event :-)
Windows NT 4.0 is installed.

I can checked the system next week.
I believe the right word is "attic"
In the attic from my parents.

Next weeks I can do it, if no other have such a system.
No problem.

Best
Frank

Yes Frank, "attic" is the correct word :)

And thanks if you can find it.

Actually checking on some of my old stuff, I found an ancient BP6 motherboard with 2 celerons that had been overclocked to 550 Mhz (I think from 350 to 550). At the time that was one hell of a system running with 32mb or 64mb of ram !!! It was a big thing as dual socket systems were only for Xeons and the BP6 had a big following. I wonder if I can still rev it up and how it would perform with todays MP engines.

maybe having the engine run while a virus scan is being conducted will help.
