Chess fans,
I have been saving my money for some time now to buy a new laptop computer. I have ~ $3000. I really want a big beautiful screen (15-18'') to look at, super-fast CPU, and a SSD. I will be using the laptop for chess engine matches, browsing chess websites, running chess software, and playing chess online.
Any recommendations/suggestions?
Thanks

If mostly for chess then get a Desktop if you can
- Faster CPU + HD + Video + Memory
- Can chose screen independently
- Can be Over Clocked
- Can upgrade CPU + HD + Video + Memory
- Can add USB-3 (10x Faster than USB2!, Screaming SSD!) and other new technologies later
- You can use a small case with a handle !

I already have a decent desktop but am looking for something mobile I can take on the road to chess events.
And I am a big hefty male (260 lbs) so I laugh at people who complain about 20 lb desktop replacement laptops.

And while I am on this subject, can anyone figure out the details behind GM Nigel Short's new HP laptop computer that was recently displayed at chessbase.com?
Thanks

If you really want to go for the best performances and nice display, I think you have mainly two choices :
- either an AlienWare laptop : http://www.alienware.com/main.aspx (and those ones definitely weights nearly 10kg ).
- either a Macbook Pro with windows running on a bootcamp partition (if you choose this one, just wait a few weeks anyway : Apple is about to update them). : http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/
