Yes, it was maybe more meant as a chessproblem. Die Schwalbe is mainly known I think for problemists? It says "deutsche Vereinigung für Problemschach." I have not found yet who exactly was Mr. Breuer that the memorial was dedicated too. I saw a Josef Johann Breuer, also a composer of chess problems but he died in 1981 so that probably was not the Breuer of the memorial.

I let it run a bit longer yesterday but it did not get the Mate in 29 even at a depth of 81. Patience ran out and I stopped it, but, on the other hand, it was a good stress test as well for the program. It's close enough to 29 that I don't think it is a real bug, but it is not really tested of course. On really big hardware you can get deeper than this in a day or so.

Michael: I let Komodo 9 consider the position for 35 minutes and the best it could come up with was Kc5 0:00 However when I fed the moves 1 Kc7 Ba3 into it this is what it displayed. Sure it doesn't get mate in 29 and yes it needs direction but still it's a start.
