Coincidence that we get this announcement so soon after the release of Stockfish 1.7? I don't think so.

Vas' hand has finally been forced.

Don't you think that he may have reimbursed clients who claimed that they bought Rybka 3 AFTER an upgrade announcement was made?

I personally don't know, but it would make sense to me that he might have done something for those who contacted him, to keep them happy. I don't see what great loss it would have been for him.

I know. Do you think Rybka 4 will be stronger than the Ippo things?

Christopher

Just a guess, that I'm SURE Vas has been playing with those Ippo things almost 24 hours a day, and is highly familiar with their every weakness and strength.

Ippo is not important.

Do you think Rybka 4 will be stronger than Stockfish 1.8?

Don't hold your breath for May 10. Even on the Rybka site one of their inside men even says that the announcement is premature.

Let's hope at least that their Rybka 4 won't be premature either

This is not the most important. The most important is that we will have two strong engines.

Maybe he is seeing if they have improved his Rybka. :) :) :)

Best to you,

:D for sure !

I don't think he'll come out with R4 if he didn't make it go through thousands of test games.
