I think I understand why Anand is playing this line in his match with Topalov, but I think it gives black more chances to go wrong than to draw. I don't see that black has any winning chances, not even in the endgame.

I agree that Black does not have any winning chances. I guess many setups like Berlin, and even some Petroffs etc are like that: hard, technical defense and you make a draw. The upside is that computer prep etc. is completely useless in those positions. On amateur level I dont think its that bad because to win you have to have good technique too which no one has, so I wouldn't mind too much playing that against some of my level.
