Re: Topalov vs Anand Game 12
g3 is to protect the King, as the back rank is VERY weak.AdminX wrote:

Esp with the bishop also covering f1.
I think Anand is playing a good positional game...

Wow! I hope this is not a long term weakening of the white kingside.

Re: Topalov vs Anand Game 12
g3 is played as well
With this more, Topa has effectively solved many a problems, and can concentrate on the weak pawn on c file.
However, Anand can take control of the d file.

If so, then maybe 22. Rf2 not such a good move!?VP wrote:g3 is to protect the King, as the back rank is VERY weak.AdminX wrote:

Re: Topalov vs Anand Game 12
The back rank mate threat would have given Topa headaches- also doubled rooks would have hassled the white queen.AdminX wrote:

Now it is quite safe.
Very dynamic position- but black seems to have things under control.

Re: Topalov vs Anand Game 12
Rf2 is per say not a bad move, and topa is not under any trouble.AdminX wrote: If so, then maybe 22. Rf2 not such a good move!?
He protects the b2 pawn indirectly, and allows his queen to move...
