I don't understand your question.
Do you mean (a) you cannot use Komodos book under a CB GUI, or do
you mean (b) you cannot use Komodos book for _other_ chess programs
under a CB GUI?

(a) works of course and (b) not.
If you perhaps meant (a) just ask again please.

There are already tools to create a polyglot book from pgn files. So is there something specific you have in mind?
I know Don,but it's rather a little bit coplicated to create a polyglot opening book,at least for me....is there any automated tools out there I can use :!: :?:

What I have in mind is a simple command line like in Bright chess engine:

builfbook bright.pgn bright.ini

Now the ini file contains the parameters which will determine the moves that will be choosen from the pgn file....
Here's a segment from Bright's ini file which deals with this:

1.Create a .ctg openng book called empty.ctg which is actualy empty....
2.Install Komodo under the ChessBase GUI and when you play matches,choose the empty.ctg opening book to be used by Komodo and meanwhile check "use own book" in the engine parameters....
3.Start the match....that's it....

Ok, here we go. The expected default book is 'komodo.bin' which
should be used by it, if you have placed in in the same folder as the
komodo.exe. (after you have already checked the komodo uci
option 'use own book' and saved it - there is no name of the book
mentioned because it is hardcoded in komodo).
I guess you have the book still in a subfolder, because I see the
download creates a book folder after extracting from Jims site?
(The book is around 25MB after extraction)

Komodo 1.2JA(32bit) and its book under a CB GUI(first time after
years...). I disabled the GUI book and played a few quick blitz games
against it with its own book and noticed that the book reading bug
seems not completely squashed?

After 1. e4 (me Black) e6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. e5 c5 Komodo
already started thinking and played the main 5. a3 but to my surprise
stopped playing after 5. ... Bxc3+?

You are clearly doing something wrong. The book knows a3 for one thing.

The bug in the book was that it would hang if the book wanted it to castle and this was due a misunderstanding of the polyglot book format.

I tried this exact position and it's working flawlessly. Are you sure you are not doing something wrong?

I have already received reports that the book works fine - so I'm cautiously optimistic that it's ok, but you never know.

Well I tried to reproduce the behaviour and used the GUI of my choice(WB)
and Komodo again was thinking already after 4...c5 despite SCID also
shows that the move 5. a3 is in the book?
At least I cannot confirm that Komodo doesn't respond anymore
after 5...Bxc3+. (I tried that under my old F9 GUI again too but
now I could not reproduce the hanging but I don't trust those CB GUIs
anyway)
