Houdini 1.03 is available

Post by Houdini »

The new Houdini 1.03 is available.
Download from http://www.cruxis.com/chess/houdini.htm .

Houdini 1.03 extends the UCI features of the engine with multi-PV analysis, search moves and large memory page support.
The web page contains some explanation of how to use large page support on Windows Vista/7 64-bit.

The evaluation function of Houdini 1.03 is somewhat stronger than previously, I hope you'll enjoy this new release.

Cheers,
Robert

Hi Robert,

could you please tell us more about the history of Houdini?
(Is it your first chess engine? When did you start developing it?)

Cheers,
Graham.

Robert thanks,

Without enabling large pages, how many elo points stronger is it than version 1,02?

In fast time controls about 20 Elo, in long time controls probably somewhat less.

Could you tell me how I can get Houdini 1.02, I just tried installing Houdini 1.03 and it will not work on my machine, Houdini 1.02 worked fine.

I overwrote 1.2 and now I have no Houdini, I used it alot on ICC, very strong engine

What exactly do you mean by "it will not work"?
Which version do you use (w32/x64, number of cores), and on what hardware?

What exactly do you mean by "it will not work"? Do you get an error message when you double-click the 1.03 executable in Windows Explorer?
On what hardware are you running?
