A 20 games match against Virtual Chess II 2.04....

Post by Dr.Wael Deeb »

Hi there :D ,
A very unique and unorthodox chess playing entity which plays very aggressive and tactical chess....very unpleasent for humans to play against....
It's claimed in the help menu to play around 2600 Elo....however it's real level is around 2400 Elo....

Here is my first game against this splended program....I was luck that it sacrificed a minor piece for 3 pawns....if I was a little bit stronger tactically,I should have gunned it down, but I am a 99% positional player aiming to simplify the position against mighty opponents....

It's an older commercial program, from around 1997. You might be able to find a used copy on Amazon or eBay, and probably for a very reasonable price.

On Amazon's UK page, it sells for £1.12.

Virtual Chess 2 had a tournament rating of 2680. Virtual Chess (DOS) is available as abandonware, although I do not know about the legality of that ? karger

Yeap, but actualy it plays around 2400 Elo as I match it in my tournaments against various opponents when I have the time because it's done manually....so it moves in the range of 2400-2450 Elo....

Hi Doc !

VC II is one of my favourite chess program from many. many years !

>Virtual Chess,
a commercial chess program by Marc-François Baudot and Jean-Christophe Weill. Virtual Chess is the Windows version of the Virtua Chess MS-DOS program. It participated the 13th WMCCC Paderborn, and became two times Professional World Microcomputer Chess Champion [1] at the 14th and 15th World Microcomputer Chess Championships in Jakarta 1996 (sixth place) and Paris 1997 (second behind Junior). In 1997 Virtual Chess won the 5th French Computer Chess Championship and participated at the 9th World Computer Chess Championship in Paderborn, Germany, 1999. Beside other human matches [2], Virtual Chess played the Aegon 1997 Man-Computer tournament [3].>
