At such higher level, we'd have to always expect the very minimum. So, perhaps 20 elo.

I'd be very interested to see the games/results between Stockfish 1.9 and Rybka 4.

Hi Peter,

My guess is that it has improved by over 60 Elo. STS Elo Estimate certainly showed more than 60 elo change between STS Total scores of Stockfish 1.8 (3124) and Stockfish 1.9 (3210). It could be anywhere between 40 and 60 elo... It could even be more than 60 though. We could say 40-50 just to be on safe side.

Over 60 ELO puts stockfish above Rybka 4! If this is true, congratulations! Stockfish now is stronger than all the clones.

My guess is between 10 and 15 ELO

On my computer 6 core at 4 GHz i980x
85 games at 3min per side using Rybka 4 book, Deep Rybka 4 64bits is scoring about 20 ELO stronger than Stockfish 1.9 64 bits

I haven't played a single game with new Stockfish but all testsuites I have. In positional and endgame suites 1.9 is NOT better than 1.8. But in 3 different tactical suites it is almost 50% faster than 1.8! It's difficult to expect over 20 points increase in ELO.

The new stockfish has a bugg. To 8 cores he works very,very slow!
Up to 4 cores the speed is normal.

Give him a 3' game and look at the average of k/N/s : 4-500 instead
7-8000 and depth : 11-13 instead 19-22.

Many people have reported success using 1.8 with 8 threads. SF team doesn't have 8CPU computer, so we are unable to even test this

But perhaps you could do a little experiment.

Check average kN/s value with different threads value:

1 threads: kN/s
2 threads: kN/s
...
8 threads: kN/s

At which point you start to observe problems??

in position i was looking at in one of my games i was getting 9,500 kN/s on my Skulltrail and17,000 kN/s on my 12 cpu comp despite only running on max 8 cpu.both runs were for over an hour.

Sorry, it was a problem on my Skulltrail.After a new start now is all OK.

my Skully is overclocked to 3.6,latest 17 chips run faster due to a bottle-neck caused by FB-DIMMS having to be used in Skully.

i have just started a 40/40 engine game R4-Fire 1.31,both run on 12cpu.will post later when finished so you can see speeds.
