Dedicated Chess Computers
Is anyone producing dedicated chess computers anymore? It seems like the selection has seriously dwindled since I last looked into them two years ago.

At least two companies still do :
- Lexibook (France), formally known as Yeno
- Millenium (Germany?)

we had a thread discussing this just the other day
The above looks about right to me
Except their is a small Company from the Netherlands releasing Very high-end ..luxury ..dedicated chess computers equipped with modern day engines(Rybka ,Shredder..etc.etc.)
http://www.phoenixcs.nl/index.php?optio ... 46&lang=en
the Major dedicated chess computer Companies are no longer producing new computers:
Excalibur is out of Business
Saitek no longer releases any new Mephisto's and Saiteks
Novag was purchased by another Company and it looks like they will not be releasing anything new regarding programs
they are releasing a new line called the Aquamarine ..this series seems to be basically old programs in a new plastic housing
Its Basically All Over Regards

Yes... Novag's website looks so amateurish... A kid would do a better one nowadays... that's when you know a company is dead

the last and final "new" releases by Excalibur and Novag were both Robots
the Phantom Force and the 2Robot respectively
a strange way to end business
im guessing they were hoping these Robots would sell well and grant them a life-line to stay in business..they were priced very reasonably for self-moving dedicated computers
one problem was that both Robots had very weak engines(1500-1600 Elo range)

Mark Uniacke has a very good collection of dedicated computers
Fabien Letouzey also had some interest in dedicated units
Even Bob Hyatt owns one computer
you have a few of these babies?
Curious Regards
