Huh? My version was free and paid by adverts. But I'm on the French App Store, maybe my link is leading to a paid version only on your local App Store?
Edit: or maybe they have two apps: Chess!! And Chess Deluxe!! ? One being free and the other one paid? Only the first one is on my App Store and is called "Échecs!!".
Nope! I just checked and it's really free. Here's what I did: as it's a universal app and I only have it on my iPad I logged off iTunes on my iPhone and searched for the App on the App Store, and here's what I got ("gratuit" means free in French):
(Fancy looking App Store because it's iOS 6 beta, btw).
I apreciate the news and I am fine posting if you post it here, but do you have to use the same long thread again and again and again. Make a new thread with something new and maybe I have a look at it but I will not follow this one. I am just anoid because it pops up and I have to search hard to find the news ...

Hello Ingo. Yes, this is a known problem with people using the thread view. But those people are a small minority (less than 15% of users IIRC a polls result last year), and having long thread instead of numerous threads is preferred by the other 85%...
Not easy to satisfy everybody...
Maybe we could post a new thread each time starting with the "[iOS]" tag? That's less elegant but would solve your problem...

I am using the standard view which everybody gets when NOT logged in, as this is how I (and I assume MANY) read the forum!
I dont even need a iOS Tag, Just make a new thered is there is something new and I am fine.
And again, I am nit against the news, its just the way you present it for monthes ...

That's Judit allright!
Eh, that's a girl's app, there's a pony!
When do we actually play chess, Judit?
There maybe? On a 5x5 board?
I didn't buy the app, so I can't give a personal point of view. Any volunteer?
The app is quite big (609 MB). Maybe there's some video content...
What's New in Version 13.40
+ iPhone 5 support
+ High quality retina graphics
+ Launch HIARCS from PGN email attachment
+ Delete games from PGN database
+ Offer draw to computer
+ Fixes and enhancements
+ Discount coupon for HIARCS Chess Explorer
The most interesting things is probably the engine being updated from HIARCS 13.31 to HIARCS 13.4. Other differences I noted is that now you can also offer a draw.
...
I also got seduced by the pony and bought Judith Polgar's ChessPlayground, and this app is really empty for people who know chess already. All this app does is teaching the rules of chess, really.
I'm surprised that you brought the app, it's clearly for kids! I tried the draw offering feature in Hiarcs, can you make it work? I offered a draw in KR vs KR, but it declined. I can't make it to accept my draw, it says "You cannot offer a draw when the game result is already decided." Why it's decided when my draw offer was declined and the game was still going????
