Fifth Annual ACCA World Computer Rapid Chess Championships

Post by CRoberson »

The web pages are up and registration is open.
The registration button is on the 2011 WCRCC home page which is here http://compchess.org/ACCAWCRCC/2011ACCAWCRCC/WCRCC.html

The idea of submitting a binary was to help in catching some cloners. Some of them even clone the competitors that aren't in the top 10.

Submitting a binary to enter will not be required.

From the rule,
In the event of a odd number of entrants, an alternate program may be entered to avoid byes.
Is there a program already considered? Who will operate it?

Also from the rule,
Programs must run in an automated fashion. You can start them but they must run by themselves and make all decisions themselves (including resign/draw).
Two suggestions:
a) How about adding something like "The author has the option to resign his program in cases where the position is very inferior but would possibly prolong the game and will only delay the next round"

b) Another case is two authors from both programs would agree to end the drawish game, drawish game would possibly be endings where the engines are just moving waiting for the 50 move rule to be claimed.

Hardware change

Post by sje »

New hardware for Symbolic : 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7-2600 / 16 GB RAM

Also, the O/S is now Ubuntu v10.04.

Now if I can just get the search moved from a single thread to eight threads, we might see a real performance increase.
