Extremely simple Robert !

When (soon) Strelka will be +1 ELO over Houdini 2.0b Pro&so on we will all can see a new commercial titan at horizons: Aquarium Strelka 5.0 Super-Pro (after Aquarium Rybka and Aquarium Houdini).
Of course with orders , activation , crackers & so on !

Nice ?

:D
Houdini based on Robbo + original Robert code.
Strelka based on Houdini, Ippolit, Stockfish, Critter + original Jury code.

its normal in chess programming :D

I don't mind Jury's efforts (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery), I'm just fascinated by people's reactions, even from educated people like Kai.

Well at least 2 people, (Jury and Jim Ablett) now have some very interesting source code...
i.e. a raw (untuned, to use Jury's word) codebase which approaches Houdini's strength.

What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

It rocks, only 28 +/ -11 Elo points weaker than Houdini, clearly the second strongest program, and an untuned one! Now Yuri, tune it!

Kai
"It rocks", LOL. People's reactions to Strelka are hilarious.

Jury literally said: "I mostly made a Houdini 1.5a copy, I apologize to Robert Houdart".
You have verified the author's claim by means of the similarity detector - I guess that Strelka 5 is actually closer to Houdini 1.5 than Houdini 2 is.

So in what way exactly does "it rock", what exactly is the merit of making a copy that is 30 Elo weaker than the original?

Robert
Now, with a better compile, Strelka 5 is ~15 Elo points weaker than Houdini 1.5 (both 32 and 64 bit versions). First, I said that it rocks without knowing just how much similar it is to Houdini 1.5, its evaluation is a bit crazy and dissimilar to anything. Second, I hope Yuri finally will release it as an open source. Third, I was not very much pleased that you went commercial, at the same time I have nothing fundamentally against it, you spent many hours on Houdini's development.

The advent of banned for a long time on CCC (how stupid they are?) open source Ippos is really a revolution in top CC programming (and not yet a fully assimilated one). There is also Stockfish to inspire people (based on my similarity tester, very few are using its sources, maybe they are modifying them beyond recognition). If Strelka 5 sources will appear, it would mean another, smaller revolution. Yuri writes very compact, readable sources, no wonder his Strelka 2.0 sources were copied by some well-known commercial authors. Strelka 2.0 is not totally a Rybka 1 RE, he basically got what he needed from Rybka 1, then completed it with Fruit 2.1, then tuned it.

You have to admit, Vas was hacked, you will be too, and it's much better if Yuri does this. Imagine a Saint in Hyattian or CCC books doing this, without any intention of releasing the sources, selling it and so on. Then go prove something to "I don't have time to check every Saint".

Strong result from Strelka 5 with the new x64 compile

Code: Select all

    Program Score % Elo + - Draws

  1 Houdini 1.5a x64 : 1114.0/2180 51.1 3204 12 12 34.0 %
  2 Strelka 5 : 1066.0/2180 48.9 3196 12 12 34.0 %
Only 8 +/- 12 (95% confidence) Elo points weaker than Houdini 1.5a.

Hi, Robert !

I would like to send you the source code of Strelka 5. If you don't mind.
I went through the Rybka code forwards and backwards and took many things.
