Crafty finds a mate in 16 quickly. I let it run for 2+ minutes and it could not improve that...

All Nalimov TB are available (up to 5 pieces). What is curious for me is that I ran Chest UCI 5.2 with Special settings (K5, P4, X20) and it did not find any mate in 13... is Rybka mainline wrong?

IMO, actually it is an error: the trouble is originated by 3...Qa8.

Moving to 3.Kd6, both Houdini 1.5 and Critter 1.2 agree on the following answer:

1. +- (#13): 3...Qh1 4.Qc3+ Ke4 5.Qc6+ Kd3 6.Qxh1 Kxd2 7.Qxh4 Kd3 8.Kd5 Kd2 9.Qxf6 Ke3 10.Qxe5+ Kf3 11.Kd4 Kf2 12.Qf4+ Kg2 13.Qg4+ Kh2 14.Ke4 Kh1 15.Kf3 Kh2 16.Qg2#

2. +- (#13): 3...Qg2 4.Qc3+ Ke4 5.Qc6+ Kd3 6.Qxg2 Kc2 7.Kd5 Kd3 8.Qf3+ Kxd2 9.Kc4 Ke1 10.Kd3 e4+ 11.Kxe4 Kd2 12.Kd4 Kc2 13.Qc3+ Kb1 14.Qb3+ Ka1 15.Kc3 h3 16.Qb2#

3. +- (#11): 3...Qb7 4.Qxb7 Kd3 5.Qf3+ Kc2 6.Kd5 h3 7.Qxh3 Kxd2 8.Qf3 Ke1 9.Qg2 Kd1 10.Qf2 e4 11.Kxe4 Kc1 12.Kd4 Kb1 13.Kc3 f5 14.Qb2#

All Nalimov TB are available (up to 5 pieces). What is curious for me is that I ran Chest UCI 5.2 with Special settings (K5, P4, X20) and it did not find any mate in 13... is Rybka mainline wrong?

Regards from Spain.

Qa8 is the error, as more people stated. In less than five seconds (in my old Intel Pentium D930) Houdini found mate in ten starting with Qe3+, and preferred ...Qh1 or ...Qg2 with longer mates, starting with Qc3+. It was telltale that Chest UCI 5.2 did not find mate in 13.

It would be interesting that someone with fast hardware run Houdini 2.0 (or 2.0b or 2.0c) with Mate Search Function enabled.

A forgotten detail in my previous post:
Houdini and Critter without Nalimov, Gaviotas, Robbo bases.
