Hi,

all the ProDeo versions have a little problem. In the still running SWCR Oldie-Mix I must replay so far 9 of around 350 ProDeo games.

Reason:
After 175 moves ProDeo lost on time. Lost on time games are replayed in SWCR but I lost to many test time. I think more as 175 are not possible for ProDeo. Perhaps Ed can solve the problem with the next update of ProDeo very easy. This would be great!

Without resign factor 175 isn't rarley. Have a look on SWCR database.

Best and thanks!

Hi !

Confirmed here ! Most of long games failed. And this is a long time problem. I'm not sure - but if I remember in a correct way - even Rebel 12 has this problem. Verified on three GUIs: Fritz, Winboard and Shredder.

Have a nice day,

Well Graham, this wekeend I'll take a look to this GUI. But the GUI are for me like the antivir. Some are for sure good but too complex for an old  man - like Silvian ! For example Aquarium. It's like Bitdefender -a very good product - but for experienced users. Fritz ,Chessmaster and Shredder are my fellows from years. WinBoard is a nice and easy to use GUI.

Have a nice weekend ,

Hi Graham,

with Arena you can break games after x moves. This isn't new. Arena is perfect in such things.

But in this case it is more or less a problem in ProDeo, not from GUI X or Y.

By the way:
Yes, ChessGUI is great. I am using this GUI on my Notebook for test things too :-) My compliment to the programmer. GUI development is much harder as engine development.

Best

Wrong time to try ChessGUI !
Latest versions have a yet unfixed bug. The best way to avoid the bug is to not use Tablebases to adjudicate games. The second best way is to use Gaviota Tablebases, not Nalimov.
I don't know which was the last ChessGUI without the bug.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

When you are playing eng-eng matches or auto232 make sure you limit the maximum number of moves else PRO DEO might play funny moves or worse crash.

For ChessBase this means: Move Limit = 240
For LokaSoft: Max Moves in Game = 160

-----------------

I will try to fix in the next version.
