That's odd. I didn't seem to have any problems with this compile, and the hash size option worked for me in Arena 3.0.MikeGL wrote:Hesús,
Seems like that compilation is strange.
It has no option to modify the Hash. It has only a default hash of 5MB.
Engine keeps on crashing in Arena.
Also, if I ran that specific Sting1.0 compilation in command prompt and typed uci, it displays the option Hash but it cannot be set to anything.
I typed: setoption name Hash 512
But it is claiming no such option.
Anyways I'll attempt my rusty and lousy compilation skills with that source code.

Re: First compile in Chess2U forum.
Thanks David.
Binary is fine indeed. I just rechecked the engine with Scid 4.3
But I tried loading and re-installing many times under Arena 2.0.1 but the
Hash is still missing in the options window. Probably just in my system.
I will try Arena 3.0 as advised by Tony above.

Embarassing, I just noticed its because of that UCI Filter tick box option
found in Engines > Manage > Options Tab in Arena 2.0.1
I didn't know it will hide the Hash of all engines if I remove the tick box.
I won't fix if not broke next time.

Many thanks to Eelco and Graham for nice logos.
BTW. I hope Sting SF will not be a toy for machines only.

How about a 64-bit build?

In AH_Tactics Sting solved 217 in 10s limit, when Stockfish 111026 solved 219. But latter was 64 bit though.

Watch this spaceWe asked Jim to not compile sources directly downloaded from our repo to avoid fostering random bianaries of a still in development software. But we have nothing against derived engines of official release: sources based on an officially released version, like Stockfish 2.1.1, and then further modified by the author and, of course, with the name changed. I think Sting belongs to this second group.
