I don't understand why so many intentionally ignore the fact he refused to cooperate. They expect the rules should not apply in this case.

I'm also surprised to learn from that article that different types of hardware can be used and only recently were hardware limits were imposed. I would have expected all engines would need to run on the exact same rig. Why should the person who can afford a faster computer have an advantage??
Now there are 2 tournaments on = hardware Hiarcs kicks ass :)

I have read much of it and I must say WOW! That puts things in a different perspective for me.

In the very least.
The punishment doesn't fit the crime at all.

And what crime would that be?

Code theft and breaching the GPL. Not that you care.
Did you read the article? It's shows evidence that no code theft was done or the kind that was wasn't game playing code or code that you shouldn't treat Vas like he's a murderer and he needs a lifetime ban.
I read the evidence. I could care less about the PR ChessBase article.
Again, Vas is guilty of code theft and breaching the GPL.

Do you know why he did not defend himself?
Is he so humble and religious lad?

Yes he is humble and deeply religious. He would never steal anyone's program and sell it. Maybe R 5 will come out and be world champ. :-)

Best,
Gerold.

I am with you. I wonder if it is because we live so close to each other that our logic is similar or = in so many areas.

:)

It "showed" absolutely nothing. It is opinion, personal attacks, distortions, incorrect data, incorrect quotes, the list goes on. We are working on a detailed response, in a similar vein to the ICGA report that started this.

Wow! Then you are in for a surprise. There lot's of new evidence there (including falsified code in Zach's report). You should at least check it out and then rethink if Vas is at least deserving of the punishment he was given.

I am sure if Vas had been asked to cooperate in an appropriate manner, he would have, but I think he felt that it was more of a lynch mob action and thus did not warrant a response. I do agree it would have been much better had he cooperated and that some of the information he is giving out now would probably have avoided this entire fiasco. But I also believe that not accepting to cooperate does not automatically mean that he is guilty ... something which the ICGA promoted.
