Hello everybody,

having fun watching Clemens' "Myth Buster" (DJ13 vs. Houdini 1.5a) I decided to let Junior play against two more strong opponents.

My conditions:

- played with Netchess on 4 Computers (maintenance station is my Atom-Netbook)
- CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 @ 3GHz
- engines use 6 Threads, 1GB Hash
- TC: 40 moves in 120min, 60min for the rest (so max game length is 6h)
- Junior uses 5-men Nalimov-TBs, Critter uses 5-men Gaviota-TBs (each running from a fast SSD)
- Noomen Opening Suite 2012 testset (30 openings), every engine has to play every opening with white and black

Deep Junior 13 vs. Stockfish 2.2.2: http://www.team-oh.de/livegames2/

Have fun watching the games!

Best regards

Hi Timo,

Thank you for the broadcast. And I am envious of your equipment :)

Hi Adam,

thank you for watching. Let's see if DJ13 is able to repeat its good performance played at Clemens' "Myth Buster" match.

I'm working for an IT-company and so I'm able to buy computer stuff VERY cheaply. For one of these Phenom computers I payed about 300€. Some people buy one expensive computer with multiple cores and so on for 2000€ and more. I decided to buy a few cheap ones which resulted in more testing capacity...

Best regards
Timo

Thanks, I am very curious. DJ 13 outplays quite often Houdini 1.5 in the middlegame, almost as often as the opposite, at those controls and hardware, being generally weaker tactically. Pretty weird.

I would have done the same.

I am following these two matches and the one against Houdini pretty closely! I am trying to figure out whether or not to buy the new Junior. Thanks for doing this.

Match is on hold for 15-30min. There where a few hangs that caused trouble in 2 of the games. I will restart it soon using a later version of the GUI.

Was the second game against Critter affected? I didn't follow the part where Critter was supposedly losing decisively.

Yeah, in the second game against Critter there was a break after move 39 which caused Critter to lose on time.

Now the matches are restarted with latest GUI version (F13).
