My Hiarcs Iphone4 is stronger than Hitech WOW...............

Post by pichy »

It is amazing how time has changed, now my HIARCS 13.31 Iphone4
is stronger than HITECH, and Deep Thought were, and if I get the newer Iphone4s which is twice as fast as an Iphone4 it is amost as strong as the first Deep Blue

Yes, it is amazing.

I thought there was an even stronger handheld program than hiarcs, but i'm not sure up to date. Why? is Hiarcs the strongest?

I'd like to see the best pocket device vs the super Deep blue that "crushed" Kasparov.

I personally think that Deep Blue wasn't that good after all.
If you replay the rematch games (DB certainly didn't crush Kasparov btw.), it seems to me that it played a horrible blunder in one of the games (which was lost anyway), so this implies that DB in fact was quite buggy
Plus one of the games was won due to opening preparation (where Kasparov blundered in the opening already) and in one of the games where Kasparov resigned he missed a deep draw by perpetual check.

Can you post the game and the Fen position where you think that Deep Blue blundered so we can analyze it; and I would like to give my HIARCS 13.31 Iphone4 a chance to see if the move that it find is much better or worse based on the same time control that Deep Blue made the blunder

Martin, you're wrong here. Kasparov surely missed Qe3, but this move doesn't lead to perpetual. It leads to an endgeme which is better for white.

Then it gave me another move when I let it calculate for 30seconds

I just checked the DB logs they also have for download at the website.
DB also tried Rf5 then Rg8. But then for some inexplicable reason (bug) it played the blunder Rd1 which loses immediately.
According to the log, as far as i understand it, DB found Rg8 in T=204, which may be time in some units (i don't dare to guess seconds)?
Certainly 30sec (perhaps even less) on iPhone (1 core i guess) an impressive result!
