Engine? Most won't sac the exchange, 17. Rxd4. Maybe none? You might have to change the weights?

Rxd4 is the only move that Gaviota considers (at least this experimental version).

Re: "Interesting" position.

Post by muxecoid »

When this position happened in my game (fast game on FICS) I played Rxd4. After a few obvious moves:

[D] r3k2r/1b1p1p2/ppqPpBp1/4P2p/P1Bp4/5P2/1PP1Q1PP/R5K1 b kq - 0 20

Black is exchange up but has no counter-play. Komodo 3 immediately says white is better. Critter needs long time to give white positive eval.

P.S: Qe3 as suggested by Critter is also exchange sac but it can not be accepted. If black accepts:
[D] r1q1k2r/3p1pb1/pp1Pp1p1/2p1P1Bp/P1B1Q3/8/1P3PPP/n2R2K1 w kq - 0 20
white has crushing Bxe6!!

What does your favorite engine think given enough time?
Engine? Most won't sac the exchange, 17. Rxd4. Maybe none? You might have to change the weights?
As expected, Junior 12.5 will sac the rook within a few seconds. Junior really isn't happy unless it has sacrificed material for counterplay.
