- Discocheck is chess slang for discovered check
- it contains disco and sounds like discotheque, which I found amusing

So in that vein, I should name the version with disco bands. You know MacOSX and Ubuntu name their versions with animal names
- DC 3.5 would be ABBA
- DC 3.6 would be Boney M

For the next version, I'll neeed a disco band starting ewith a "C". Any ideas ?

PS: jokes aside, Discocheck 3.6 is out at

if anyone is interested.
Congrats Lucas! :)

A name starting with C? Hmmm... What about DiscoCheck Carlos? I guess only you, me and our country fellows can really appreciate this music of angels ^^

BTW, didn't you like the Treeplecheese name your engine got last april fools' day?
Yeah, I remember Carlos. But I'm not sure it qualifies as disco music. Any expert opinion on this ?

Lucas,
The link text says 3.6, but the contents is still 3.5.1.
Nevertheless, I noticed I had not made an Android version since your name change, so I put the downloadable discocheck compiled for ARM at UCI and XBoard engines for Android.
Aart
Ah well spotted. I'll tell Leo to correct the link

Creedence clearwater revival :)
Not exactly the style though.
Maybe C-Block is a little bit fresher :)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm also thinking of nick naming it "K&R" or simply "C", in hommage to Kerninghan and Ritchie, the uber-geniouses who invented the C langnage and the Unix operating system.

The C language is certainly my weapon of choice (as well as Unix compatible OS GNU/Linux): it's been around for over 40 years, and even today, it has changed very little, and *nothing* beats it to produce ultra-fast and easily portable code.

That would be T&R for Unix, R for C (T did B) and K&R for the book on C?

Cerrone is widely credited for "inventing" the disco beat, which is not totally accurate but at least it is true that he started it all, sold 30 million albums, and set the pace for the whole disco era.

If you want a relevant "C" in disco, I don't think anybody can beat Cerrone.
