Fixing that and re-releasing. Again, just replace performance.bin and it'll work if you already downloaded it.

(performance.bin can be found here)

Edit: I've uploaded a fixed version to sourceforge (same link/name etc.)
Hi again,

I can't get Mediocre 0.5 to run here.
Tried Jim's executables without success.

Hmm, have you been able to run the jar-version of Mediocre before? Shouldn't be anything different this time around, perhaps you're missing java in you PATH or something similar?

As for Jim's executable I'm having trouble with it as well. Not sure what's up.

Must admit I've never tried the jar-version. I'll take a look when I get home from work, but it might be that I have to wait and see if Jim can offer a solution.

Jim's executables are usually quite a bit stronger, so might be worth waiting for some clarification from him.

However, a quick fix that should work would be to add the complete path to your java-directory in Mediocre.bat. (assuming you're on Windows and have Java installed)

1. Find your Java-directory and the bin-folder with java.exe in it. Will probably look something like this: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe
2. Modify Mediocre.bat so it looks like this (including quotes), but with your path to the bin-folder of course:

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -jar mediocre_v0.5.jar

This will make sure the java.exe is found by the system.

I tested the JA executables in various systems. These are my results.

Code: Select all

Mediocre 0.5 JA (Excelsior Jet)
---------------------------------
Win XP Pro 32 bit + Athlon Xp/m + Arena gui = success

Win XP Pro 64 bit + Athlon64 + Arena gui = failure

Win 7 Pro 64 bit + Athlon64 + Arena gui = success

Code: Select all

Mediocre 0.5 JA (Launch4j) - needs Java installed & will only work in gui.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Win XP Pro 32 bit + Athlon Xp/m + Arena gui = success

Win XP Pro 64 bit + Athlon64 + Arena gui = success

Win 7 Pro 64 bit + Athlon64 + Arena gui = success

When I run Jim's Jet executable, I get the error message:

JETPerfect: Incomplete .usg file. Extra usage list generated.

The launch4j executable seems to work OK for me.

Hi Jim. Nothing I see tells me anything about Fritz 11 gui, Fritz 13 gui or Shredder 11 gui in Windows 7 64bit. Not to be difficult, but just honest. That has always been my issue with java engines. Perhaps if Houdini or Komodo was causing this problem- I would do anything necessary. But when you start getting down around 2800 or below- they either load or they don't. I just don't have the time or patience.

Best,

I have replaced the Excelsior Jet compile with a new version.

Please download again if you wish to try it out.
