Finally downloadable versions of the LittleCompendium files

Post by Lyudmil Tsvetkov »

Hi,
During the summer I have done some stuff for the LittleCompendium (my project on chess evaluation).
There are 2 new addenda: addendum2 and addendum 3.
What might be new.
In addendum 2:
- a bit on unopposed pawns (that will be a p that does not have enemy counterparts on the same file, while not being a passer, potential passer, etc.)
- specific rules for backward ps
- specific rules for fixed structures and blocking
- specific rules for isolated and double ps
- more on passers
- fanning-out quality for pieces
- relative importance of tactical and positional factors and subsplitting of those

In addendum 3:
- specific rules for unopposed ps
- lead pawns (the most advanced of a group of diagonally connected ps along the same diagonal)
- specific rules for root pawns (the last of a group of diagonally connected ps)
- a bit on the piece values
- functionality of pieces
- control of squares
- table for different pieces attacking specific squares of the enemy king shelter (long overdue)
- many other rules for different things

You can download the addenda here:
addendum 2 - https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... C_2012.pdf

addendum 3 - https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... C_2012.pdf

You can also download the compendium in full, completed with the addenda and with some older values revised (especially concerning attacking pawns and pieces and king attacks), here : https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com ... endium.pdf

I think this will stay as the final version, at least for some unspecified time.

Many thanks this time go to Gerd Isenberg for kindly suggesting I could upload the files on the cpw site.
And many thanks to all who might read the odd idea in there.

Best regards,
Ludmil

PS. Some of the moderators, please, be so kind to transfer this thread also to the subforum on programming, not to violate any rules.

I have just downloaded, so everything is fine.

Though not everything might be useful, it is a great source of inspiration. Many thanks!

Joerg
