Sad news Olivier, but understandable.

Many hours spended watching the games and chating with programmers.
Thanks for awnsering many questions with great iddeas and solutions.

Hope you enjoy other things that you want to do.

Allways waiting for the next tournament, cause as the proverb says
"the criminal allways return to the local of the crime".

I will bribe you with "cozido a portuguesa" ou "feijoada" with "vinho tinto do Dão".

Regards from your portuguese friend,
Fernando

Good luck Olivier. We're all very grateful for the work you put in. It seems like with you
and Leo both retiring it's the end of an era.

It's the end of an era. I had a fun time visiting the chat room, and even just watching the games when there was no one to chat with.

Too bad Tony's Chess will never make it out of the Promo division.....

Olivier Deville wrote:Dear friends,

This is to confirm the rumours that ChessWar is going to an end.

Of course, I am annoyed by all the clone/derivative stories, but the main reason is I now want to spend my time with other things.

I am still interested in amateur chess engines, and I really liked the social event of broadcasting games. So possibly there will be a new edition of OpenWar at the end of the year. We'll see.

Of course I'll keep the Winboard Forum alive.

Olivier
Computer chess is a disease. I'm sure you'll be back!
Meanwhile, thanks for all you've done and have fun with your other interests.

Graham.

Take care, Oliver. I hope you have fun with your other projects. And I do hope you keep OpenWar alive.
I was trying to find the right words to catch the right spirit of what I think. I believe I found them:

"This really sucks"

In Spanish it sounds better, but in poetry, translations are very difficult.
