I did it and lost my wifi on my iPhone 4S. Everybody seems to be experiencing the same problem, if we take a look at Apple's forum:
https://discussions.apple.com/community ... iscussions
So don't update yet and wait for iOS 6's fix. (The weird thing is that I had no problem with none of the beta versions... I guess an idiot made a last minute modification AFTER the gold master beta...
Sorry for the off-topic, but if that prevents all you iOS users on this forum to run into the same problem that'll be worth it.
Big fail for Apple, for once....
Don't update to iOS 6! (EDIT: YES.) Also SF for iOS news

Re: iOS users: don't update to iOS 6!!!
UPDATE : Someone gave a fix on Apple's forum: on your WIFI's name, click the blue arrow to edit its settings, scroll down to "Proxy HTTP" and select "Auto". That worked for me.

I have not updated yet, as I want to know how good the Apple Maps are to Google. I mainly want directions to specific addresses and I quite liked
Google Maps. Any one tried the Apple version?

Apparently it depends on where you live. For Norway, Apple's maps are laughably bad, in pretty much every possible way: Lack of detail in many areas, places which are misplaced by a kilometer or more, lots of misspelled names, utterly insignificant places which appear way too early when zooming in on an area, very significant places which appear way too *late* when zooming in on the same area, and so on. It's completely unusable, except for a good laugh.Cubeman wrote:I have not updated yet, as I want to know how good the Apple Maps are to Google. Fortunately, using the Google maps web app works reasonably well (though not as well as the native Google maps app in iOS 5), and Google has promised to eventually release their own native app. Personally, I can live with using the web app until this happens.
I've been using iOS 6 for quite a while now (as a registered developer, I can download pre-release versions), and apart from the maps, I haven't had any problems (neither with WiFi nor anything else). But there also aren't any very significant improvements. Full-screen mode in Safari on the iPhone is a welcome addition, but apart from that, everything is pretty much the same, at least for the way I use my phone.
Finally, for those who wonder: The new iOS version of Stockfish is 99% done, with support for the higher-resolution screens of the iPad 3 and iPhone 5, a stronger engine, and some GUI improvements. The only thing that remains to be done is some tweaks to the lowest strength settings (it's a little too strong at the weakest settings right now).

Thanks for your kind words! I hope the new version won't disappoint you.Zhu.Jianzhao wrote:Can't wait to see the new stockfish chess! It's the greatest chess app I've ever seen
I'm sorry to see that Apple's maps for China (at least Shanghai and Xiamen, the only two Chinese towns I've had the pleasure to visit) appear to be almost as bad as those for Norway.

There's a huge shitstorm raging about the maps, with articles on all the mainstream media about it.
Apparently Apple did a really bad job with the maps data, and painted themselves into a corner by advertising them as a new great thing in iOS 6. So now they have to either plod along and improve the data (which took years for Google with thousands of people working on it) or license Google's data or app again. Either way their reputation for quality and attention to detail takes a hit.

There's now a website collecting funny screenshots from iOS6's Maps app. Some of them made me really laugh a lot (don't miss the legends):rbarreira wrote:There's a huge shitstorm raging about the maps, with articles on all the mainstream media about it.

This is actually interesting, because knowing Apple this will force them to be absolutely excellent with this service in iOS7. I'm curious to see what they will bring us next year.
