Lourenco, yes, it is a fun engine to play against. I almost won against it and that means it's a good sparring partner :-)

I have to report a possible bug in the last 2 releases of Capivara. It can only load about 18 MB of hash for some reason.

Best,

Hi Carl !

1.-Yes, it's a different compile ! Better for you to use the original compile.

2.-Comet A90 is a Winboard 1 compatible chess engine ! Under Fritz you need the Wb2Uci adapter. Under Arena choose - please - Winboard in Engine Management window ! Comet A90 has nothing to do with the UCI protocol. Under Arena works the autodetection function ( once I was also cheated by it).

Best to you !

Most Engines today plays all the same meaningless mainstream-chess. There is no really significant difference between Houdini, Critter and all the ippoclones.

Which Engines play different to them? I would like to see fascinating chess-games with sacrifices and brave moves.
The most uncompromising, wildly fun engine of the last years, IMHO, is still Stockfish 1.6.3. It had problems against other engines such as Rybka and co., but even against them, it would constantly be playing the most aggressive chess there was with pushing pawns, opening lines and active pieces.

I liked Junior's 7 personality and playing style. No boring games. :D

Always something was happening. If not an exchange sacrifice or a pure one would happen, then it would give a Pawn every time just for the fun of it.
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Fire(Bird) was tweakable and played very interesting chess for an Ippolit-derived engine. Most old versions may still be available for FREE download.
I downloaded Fire from http://www.chessengine.co.in/firebird_chess_engine.html and had no problem compiling it for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems using MS Visual Studio 2010 Pro. My compiles of Fire 2.2 xTreme are available at http://dgusev.cs.edinboro.edu/GameDev/C ... xTreme.zip
Fire supports RobboBases that can be downloaded from http://www.chess.cygnitec.com/RobboBases/ and enabled.

I hate to disagree, but Norbert's Comet A90 executable is identical to the WbM's A90 executable. Identical MD5 and SHA1 hash signatures. (I didn't check any other Comet versions.)

Loved the photos, Ruxy!

Is it possible to purchase Junior 7 or Fritz 10 anywhere? Would they work on Windows 7?

Thanks!

Hello James !

I hate not to desagree  , but Norbert's Comet A90 compile stops on my Arena 3.0. The original Ulrich compile - I don't know. So, maybe you are (sure ) right !
I use Tony Mokonen's package. I must say a publicly THANK YOU MAESTRO TONY !

Nice to hear you loved the photos. THANK YOU ! Stay a bit to see the original Romanian nature, the girls , Iasi monuments and Ruxy's wines !!!

Best to you !

Is it possible to purchase Junior 7 or Fritz 10 anywhere?
Some possibilities for Junior 7...

Due to restrictions, I think for the Amazon and Ebay listings below people in the United States and maybe some other places can't have the items shipped to them.

Regular Junior 7

EBay Germany
Amazon Germany

Deep Junior 7

Amazon UK - outrageous price
Amazon Germany
Medimops in Germany - Also have listing on Amazon Germany. U.S. can't have shipped from Amazon Germany but can from the Medimops website.

I am in the U.S. and in the late part of last year I purchased a used regular Junior 7 from Medimops in Germany. It was in good shape with the original case, etc. Total price for the program and shipping was $7.00. I have been keeping an eye on that Deep Junior 7 that Medimops is selling but the conversion rate comes to something like $55.00 and I just can't talk myself into getting it.
