In 1995, it scored 5/6 against average GMs. Processors used in 1995 is probably a fast 486 or a slow pentium I. Now, the processors are around 200 times faster (with no recompile)

Well Thomas, I hope you'll not be too much disappointed, but this WChess 1.6 'UCI' is in fact a WinBoard engine. It only contains the usual WB2UCI adaptor, so you can use it like an UCI engine.

For me it is not possible to be disappoited about WChess.

Is WChess 1.6 the same program as WChess 2000 or slightly weaker?

I think Wchess2000 was the 32bit version of the DOS-16bit WChess 1.06. It's supposed to include improvements in endings and is indeed faster. An interesting link (in german): http://scleinzell.schachvereine.de/p_sp ... 2000.shtml
