what do you anticipate the processor advantages will be for chess players?

There will be a lot of factors so I will not attempt to say what the speed up will be but it will be a super platform to work with.

Yes, 8 cores mean 16(!!) independent threads!

Engines work best without hyperthreading, so you are back down to eight :!:

I will be like most, waiting for an affordable price. Intel has been a little slow with releasing an eight true core chip likely due to the economic downturn prior 2013. They have up to 20 core in the server market but expensive.

As long as it isn't as expensive as the ridiculously priced Server chips, who carez about the price ?
About time; sick of my 6-core 3930k.
No economic recession here in India, judging from the way people spend money here...maybe thanks to the recession in the West ! :wink:
