How do I get PGN for brilliant Kasparov win in Oman simul?

Post by notyetagm »

Kasparov won a brilliant game recently in a simul in Oman. The game appears on his website in an online chess viewer.

http://www.kasparov.com/almost-an-oman-immortal/

Can this viewer be easily used to obtain PGN?? There are a lot of notes and I do not want to bother pasting everything together by hand.

Thanks :-)

Thanks. :-)

Did you do that by hand or did you know some trick that you used with that particular online chess viewer?

Thanks for posting the pgn!

Alas, the latest version of Arasan chokes on the comments/subvariations...

Is that because Arasan is intolerant of (variations of) pgn notation or just because there is NO standard in pgn notation? :o

When I have time I will try some other viewers/engines whatever to see how they deal with this particular sample.

I found the PGN embedded in the source of the website. In my web browser I simply clicked on view source and copied it.

I see. The online chess viewer they displayed the game with read the PGN from within the HTML file, even though the viewer did not offer a way to download the PGN itself. So you simply browsed the HTML file and pulled out the PGN contained therein.

Very clever. :-)

So easy!!! :o
Just click on the c8 field of the chessboard...

(you should know that, it works the same as the viewer used in TalkChess)
