chessbomb.com is now using Stockfish 140127: > DD ???
The chessbomb website, which I use religiously, is now using what I believe is the latest Stockfish build, 140127.

How much stronger is this than DD? And where and how can I find out for myself?
Thanks

So you're saying Stockfish has gained around 30(!) rating points between the time DD came out and now, which is only a couple of weeks?beachknight wrote:From Stefan's RL, I calculate the approx. ratings differencenotyetagm wrote:The chessbomb website, which I use religiously, is now using what I believe is the latest Stockfish build, 140127.

WOW!
I would not be surprised for 4-5 points gain per week in latest 6-8 weeks.Only as a reference, the average Elo improvement per week for Stockfish in the last 10 months is roughly 3 points. Smile
Regards,
Tom.
But watch out for so-called regressions for few intermediate compiles.

Stockfish DD was released on Nov 29, 2013. That's about 8 weeks agoSo you're saying Stockfish has gained around 30(!) rating points between the time DD came out and now, which is only a couple of weeks?

Re: chessbomb.com is now using Stockfish 140127: > DD ???
In my testing SF DD is about 30 elo weaker than previous SF.notyetagm wrote:So you're saying Stockfish has gained around 30(!) rating points between the time DD came out and now, which is only a couple of weeks?beachknight wrote:From Stefan's RL, I calculate the approx. ratings differencenotyetagm wrote:The chessbomb website, which I use religiously, is now using what I believe is the latest Stockfish build, 140127.

Hi Gerold,
Are you sure that the new Stockfish is using all cores of your computer? 30 points is a lot, but could be expained when it is using only one core and the older Stockfish more. Number of threads now has to be set to the number of cores you want it to use, and the settings have to be stored in some way. How depends on the GUI you are using.
Regards, Eelco

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

He's talking about "SF DD" being weaker than "previous SF". Depending on what he means by "previous SF" this might well confirm the results of the other tests.Eelco de Groot wrote:Are you sure that the new Stockfish is using all cores of your computer?

Using SF 4-32bit. on dual core computer. This version is 30 elo stronger, after 500 games (1min.10 secords TC) then SF DD. Same books and same conditions as other engines in this match. Maybe to few games.Eelco de Groot wrote:Hi Gerold,
