After 14...h4 15.Be5 Qe7 16.h3 it appears there is a better move than 16...a6 which is to slow. 16...g4 recommended by Kappatoo on Rybka forum.

Centaur game.IE no engine gives 22.Bg4 as best move.
They all want to play Nc5.

This is Not a Slav Defense
Hi Paul,
On a pedantic note, this was not a mainline Slav. In fact it was not even a Slav Defense at all.
Instead, this is a mainline Semi-Slav Defense. Specifically it's the ever-popular Anti-Moscow Gambit variation.
I noticed your opponents also incorrectly calling this a Slav Defense. That said, it's surprising that this thread has run this long without any prior correction.
Finally - best wishes to both of Bristol's football teams.
All the best,
Steve

Hello Paul,
Congrats...
But however,
I think you was lucky that the opponent preferred to play to 6.Bh4
And not 8 days, even 888 days..., Whites has no BIG chances to win, due to:
6th move:Bh4 is not recommended,critical,weak...(according to my experience)
6th move: Bxf6 is much better choice !
That's why,
Bh4 is not allowed for playing in Perfect 2014 book
Actually several years ago (according to best human players)
I was considering that Bh4 is a good choice, but nowadays I have different view...
I mean the current top chess programs do not perform very good by playing at 6.Bh4...
And here are some useful comparings by different opening books
Where as we see Bh4 engines's winning percentage is less than 50 %...
