I would have loved to have seen many engines gone multi-core like MChess, wchess, ferret, chess tiger, gandalf, etc
Me too, but this time those mentioned great engines (plus chess genius) to be released as MP and UCI!

Just curious....why do you seem compelled to post the very same topics both here and the Rybka computer chess forum? Just curious, that's all.

Simply because, some Rybka chess members don't visit Talkchess
Or some Talkchess forum members don't visit Rybkachess forum too

Btw,
Actually a few years ago,
I was active and I was publishing my main threads in 5-6 chess forums

Note also that I receive often invitations from many chess forum moderators
I mean they (other chess moderators) request from me to be active in their forums too...
Yes...it look like I make double standard, but otherwise I can't...sorry

Due to unfortunately nowadays I have no much free time,
And since 2014, I am active mainly on Talkchess and Rybka chess forums

And my apologies to rest chess forums...

Thanks for your understanding!

Yace Padeborn is still on my HD! The thing I enjoy the most is using the book utility to build GM or gambit opening repertoires.

To be honest,
It will be great to see also some other engine creators too (in computer chess)!

For examples:

*Vasik Rajlich,
Who is one of the strongest chess program authors (Rybka) in the world!!
There is no doubt that Vasik Rajlich:
-A real genius,a very tallented programmer that I have ever seen!
Note also that Rybka was unbeatable for almost 6 years in the real Arena (exception on papers)!

*Anthony Cozzie (the author of Zappa Mexico)
- World Champion 2005, a high-class program!!

*Christophe Theron (the author of Chess Tiger)
Another very tallented programmer...in that period of time, Chess Tiger was a beast!!

*Johan de Koning (the author of The King)
One of my favorite chess engines...excellent program!

*Rahman Paidar (the author of Ktulu)
-Ktulu is another strong engine, several years ago was almost unbeatable too

The authors of Yace, Nimzo, SOS, Anmon,Tornado, Pharaon... are another very talented programmers too

And very sad that those mentioned top authors are not active in new engine releases...!

I missed all of them...

Btw,
I am very happy that Fabien Letouzey is again active in computer chess!
There is no doubt that Fabien's engine 'Fruit' deserves this name!!

Of course, we should not forget to mention that
Nowadays we have very talented programers too, who are active and superior in their works ...

And here are some of them:
-Stockfish by Marco Costalba, Tord Romstad and Joona Kiiski
-Houdini by Robert Houdart
-Komodo by Don Dailey, Larry Kaufman, Mark Lefler

And I apologize who I did not mention,
But definitely there are many other great programers too!

*Vasik Rajlich,
Who is one of the strongest chess program copyists (Rybka) in the world!!
There is no doubt that Vasik Rajlich:

I did noy open this thread to discuss origins...

But however, whitout to not mention this I can't:
Without the ideas and techniques from Rybka, the current all top chess engines would not be as strong as it is nowadays!

So we need to show BIG respect and to be very thankful to Vasik Rajlich!
A real genius and master in chess programming that I have ever seen!!

Btw, I will be no active in the next 14 days, but later let me know and with pleasure I can prove about X engine is not 100% original work

One thing more,
I am naive but not so much... :)
For me it is quite enough to look at the below comparing table

And as we see,
All new strong engine releases after Rybka 3, the similarity percentage is more than 50 %, close to Rybka 3... why ???

Why the older engine versions (I mean before appearing IPPO ) the similarity percentage of these engines is less than 50 % comparing to Rybka 3 ???

In my understanding,
X engine, which 100 % original and based 100% on own ideas should perform less than 50 % similarity, correct me if I am wrong ?!

Plus,
Just I don't want to spend my time again to test the engines without books,
Many top chess engines have same opening code, I mean the relationship (blood-mixed) continues too... :)

And very sad... that some authors claim that their engines are 100 % original and Rybka is a clone, vay vay vay... well - done to those authors !!!

Code: Select all
