Thanks Marek. Sting is totally awesome. In the old days, I used to think that the more elo engine has, the better analysis tool it is. Now I know it's not true anymore. Have you considered adding Syzygy support? Perhaps Sting + Syzygy = endgame monster?

BTW Sting deserves to have it's own website :)

Many ask how much strong is Sting 4.7 ?
Sting SF 4.7 is only in version 32-bit and is based on Stockfish 2.1.1 only.
My compilation is ~ 15% slower.

CEGT 40/4:

Code: Select all

Stockfish 2.1.1 w.32 1CPU - 2928
Sting SF 4.7 1CPU - 2906
CCRL 40/40:

Code: Select all

Stockfish 2.1.1 w.32 1CPU - 3032
Sting SF 4.7 1CPU - 3042
Sting is "one brain in one head engine". It means to play and to analyze in the same way, without some tricks.

One more explanation. The main goal of Sting is not the ELO racing, but I try to get an expected behavior of chess engines without a serious ELO cost.
BTW. I am far to use tablebases. For me it is a dirty tool.

Is it good compared to other engines ?
