So what about your recommendation of 26.Bd2 in the line:
25...Ne3 26.Bd2 Nf5
[d]1r3rk1/5p2/1qb1pPpR/3pPnN1/p1pP4/PpP5/1P1BB2P/3R3K w - - 0 27

What now for white?

After 27.Rh7 or Rh3 we have 27...Nxd4 so what now? Where is the win?

That's why i have said 26.Nf3! is stronger to protect d4.
So 26.Nf3 Nf5(as i've said Nxd1 must lose) 27.Rh3
[d]1r3rk1/5p2/1qb1pPp1/3pPn2/p1pP4/PpP2N1R/1P2B2P/3RB2K b - - 0 27
And now white will play:
Bd2 -> Rg1 -> Rg4 and then Nh4 is crushing.
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Are these the correct positions?
this thread is not clear and no analysis.
Lyudmil does not show program analysis with clear lines.
I think these type of threads are showing a pattern and I think it is called fishing, and it is working for some.
Look the game from the beginning.
Every final move from black in the variations is covering the best response to the suggestions of Lyudmil.

He actually suggests now as main line 26.Bd2 so white should find a win after 26.Bd2 Nc2
But the 26.Bf2 line he suggested as winning in december, is interesting too and i have put as variations the moves for white as he said today.

I haven't found any win for now for white. But i'm not and the one who said there is one. :D

does Lyudmil say this is a mate in 8 from this position?
He was close to say that, but i think he meant white has a forced win by king attack.
Which i can't seem to find there is any.

The black moves don't make sense.
Why not 17...Kg7 intending Rh8

I posted too fast, that's why I deleted the post a minute after posting. There are many lines and you can't relay on engines here...

I take back the 26.Bd2, and do 16.Rd7.

[D]1r3rk1/5p2/1qb1pPpR/3pP1N1/p1pP4/PpP1n3/1P1RB2P/4B2K b - - 1 1

Nf5 will be answered with Rh7 and Bg4.

I saw your analysis but what about instead of Nxa3 Ne3 and then
[D] 1r3rk1/5p2/1qb1pPpR/3pP1N1/p1pP4/PpP1n3/1P2B2P/3RB2K w - -

can you get the bishop to g7 like Lyudmil said but he wont post a winning line.
I has seen this position today(focused on the 25...Nxa3 26.Bf2 Qa5 line) and thought you have already established 25...Nxa3 was the best.

But as it seems you are right and 25...Ne3 may hold.
There are other moves that seems to be investigated whether they are better for black or not like 24...h6 for example.

So after 25...Ne3 we have 26.Nf3! and let's assume black will take on Rook on d1 with 26...Nxd1

Then: 27.Bxd1
[d]1r3rk1/5p2/1qb1pPpR/3pP3/p1pP4/PpP2N2/1P5P/3BB2K b - - 0 27

Now it is very easy for white to put the Bishop to g7 without having any fear that the black will counterattack on the queenside(what black can do there? Nothing!).
The best plan for black of course is to protect g7(since with a Bishop there white will checkmate with Rh8+) and only the Queen can do that so the best continuation is:
27...Rb7 28.Bd2 Rfb8 29. Rh3
[d]1r4k1/1r3p2/1qb1pPp1/3pP3/p1pP4/PpP2N1R/1P1B3P/3B3K b - - 0 29

And now 29...Qd8 is forced.
And after 30.Bh6 Qf8(forced) 31.Bxf8 Rxf8 we have this:
[d]5rk1/1r3p2/2b1pPp1/3pP3/p1pP4/PpP2N1R/1P5P/3B3K w - - 0 32

Is this a win for white?
Yes is the answer i think. But i only now i'm analyzing this, so i have to analyze it a more.
And it's an incredible position!
[d][d]1r4k1/1r3p2/1qb1pPp1/3pP3/p1pP4/PpP2N1R/1P1B3P/3B3K b - - 0 29

No need to do all this.

Above, after Qd8, white can simply play Ng5-h7, and only after that Bh6-g7.

You even do not suppose how many more better defending lines black has, and even less are able to suppose how much more convincing replies white has.

I once said after Qf6, there were about 30-40 main continuations, all very long and complicated, but I am afarid to specify the number, as if I say 30, Kim will ask me, well, you said 40. :)

That doesn't work as after 30.Ng5 there is 30...Qf8 and white can't play 31.Nh7 since black has 31...Qxa3 lurking that spoils the win for white.

True, I checked that quickly.

In the other line, SF gives +5-6 pawns for white, so clearly won.

Actually, my plan was right, but with the wrong implementation.

White first plays Kg2-Kg3, to avoid promoted queen or Rb1 to give check with tempo, and only after that proceeds with Ng5-h7, mating.

[d]1r1q2k1/1r3p2/2b1pPp1/3pP3/p1pP4/PpP2N1R/1P1B2KP/3B4 b - - 0 2

Here already Qa3 does not help, and Ng5 mates.

Re: Some analysis.

Post by George Tsavdaris »

Here is some analysis of the position(the PGN is meant to be read in Fritz/Chessbase GUI as it contains some symbols that i don't know if they appear in other GUI).

Starting after the Queen sacrifice with 22.Qf6+, it seems that black holds with 24...h5 instead of 24...h6 that seems to lead to a win for white.
So Qxf6 is not a good testposition after all as it leads to a draw most probably.
Any help to further improve the analysis and find things that i've missed, is welcomed. :D

Re: Some analysis.

George Tsavdaris wrote:Here is some analysis of the position(the PGN is meant to be read in Fritz/Chessbase GUI as it contains some symbols that i don't know if they appear in other GUI).

Thanks for the analysis.

You do not stop amazing me.
On h5, white simply captures Bh5, and the game is over.

As I told you and Kim, white has at least some 5-6 full pawns advantage above in terms of evaluation at the root, and in such case you do not need to calculate anything - the win is simply there.

I do not know why you raise the topic again.

There is no engine in the wordl that could hold this.

Actually, here white mates much quicker, and indeed SF would see a win after a couple of moves.
