I have the 5 men syzygy bases on my HDD in a folder called 'syzygy'...So for example c:\syzygy. Is this correct?
Also, would I expect to see any slowdowns on using them on my HDD for engines like Komodo, Houdini and Stockfish?
or do I really need a SSD to put them on (which I can't really afford)?
I'm only running 1 cpu matches on my i7 quad at the moment.
Thanks,
Jason

As long as you set the SyzygyPath correctly.cc2150dx wrote:I have the 5 men syzygy bases on my HDD in a folder called 'syzygy'...So for example c:\syzygy. Is this correct?
You would not expect a slowdown as long as your machine has sufficient RAM to cache the WDL files. Since they are less than 400MB, this should not be a problem on modern PCs.Also, would I expect to see any slowdowns on using them on my HDD for engines like Komodo, Houdini and Stockfish?

Thanks Ronald.
Well, I use about 4 gigs of ram total for GUI, engines, OS and everything else..etc. which leaves me an extra 4 gigs, so I have enough ram.
