Kaufman on Rybka and Fischer

Post by Sean Evans »

“Since I am mainly responsible for the evaluation function in Rybka, and since Fischer was the No. 1 influence on my own chess career, a lot of Rybka’s evaluation can be said to be second-hand knowledge from Fischer”

(Larry Kaufman, Chess, April 2008).

marketing BS

they just did what worked in testing, like everyone else.
Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.

If larry liked Fischer it is very natural that Fischer stuff is in the program.
I would not call this marketing BS.

Do you actually KNOW Larry? I've known him for years. There's a famous quote that applies to you here...

"it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

What did I say that offended you? I've known Larry for at least a couple of decades, and have ALWAYS found him to be a "straight-shooter" when he makes comments.
