Statistically (at least in my filtered database) Nh4 fares much better than Ng5 in actual games. This is one of those positions that takes a mighty effort for the engines to find it.

For the first position:

[d]r3k2r/ppqbnppp/2n1p3/1B1pP3/P1pP4/2P2N2/2PB1PPP/R2Q1RK1 w kq -

One of my little laptops found it in a few minutes.

System: Asus 552 laptop (~$500 USD) running Windows 10

CPU: Intel Core i5-4210U (2 cores, HT 4 threads) @ 2.40 GHz

RAM: 8 GB RAM, Aren

GUI: Arena 3.5

Engine: SF 060915 64 BMI2 with 512 MB Hash, 3 cores enabled.

Nh4 confirmed as best after 4m 43 sec and depth 32

Nh4 is no more the strongest move for SF (3 best moves after 1 hour on 6 cores) :
That is a good question.
I found it statistically (Nh4 won far more games than the other moves).
But maybe there is a flaw in the plan that deeper searches find.

I will examine it.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
