Test position difficult for Komodo

Post by beram » Tue Sep 22, 2015 7:32 pm

In game (19.3) between Stockfish 070915 64-bit 8CPU 2015.09.21 and Komodo 9.2 64-bit 8CPU from Graham’s ‘Sweet Offerings 8CPU’ Komodo was killed immediately after 18 ..dxc4
for me(especially) and even Komodo 9.2 it is not easy to analyse why
Because after three more moves you would think that black could have a good counterplay with 21 a5 !? threatening a4 and what can white do against that ? (21... a5 {57: Stockfish 070915 64-bit 8CPU - Komodo 9.2 64-bit 8CPU, Sweet Offerings 8CPU 2015 see diagram)

Komodo at depth 33 after 2minutes 30 sec on my PC, doesnt come further than line 22 Rd6 with 0.00 analysis
(Analysis by Komodo 9.2 64-bit: 22.Rd6 a4 23.Bxe6 Qxc5 24.Qd1 Qb4+ 25.Kc1 Bxe6 26.Nxe6

637mN (Mourik, S'dijk 22.09.2015)})

Start your engines to see the find the winning line
Once again a proove that also at longer thinking time deep combinations and tactical blows are still possible against top Komodo

Perhaps another position for Dann Corbitt's collection
A position from a game between SF031015 (white) and Komodo 9.2(ct=0) (black) at TC 15m10s which occured in my latest match

Komodo cannot find the winning move 21 d6 ! in reasonable time (I stopped at depth 37)
Stockfish finds it immediately and Houdini in 20-30sec
