I understand, and will implement as much of this as i can for the next version.
Thanks for suggestions.

Re: Fizbo 1.7 is released
From what I've seen so far, +50 Elo seems conservative.ymatioun wrote:Fizbo version 1.7 has just been released and can be downloaded from https://sites.google.com/site/fizbochessengine/.
.....Estimated increase in playing strength is >50 ELO.

Re: Fizbo 1.7 is released
I hope it is more. But in the past i overstated strength improvements several times, so i wanted to avoid it now.
I did my testing at shorter time controls (40/4, running 8 games at a time on 4 cores with hyper-threading), and it showed around +100 ELO vs Fizbo 1.6. But i was not sure this would hold up at longer time controls.

I hope this picture helps to see why Fizbo crashes in Shredder GUI in ponder=on matches:
maybe it is because of this illegal pv move?

Re: Fizbo 1.7 is released
I'll remove illegal PV move and upload updated executables within 1 hour. Hopefully this will fix this problem.

Updated executables are uploaded to https://sites.google.com/site/fizbochessengine/
Now all moves reported by engine should be legal.
Also, as suggested by Ingo Bauer, i added nps to the output, and make PV longer (up to 8 moves).
Everything else is unchanged.

Re: Fizbo 1.7 is released
I played 500 games Ponder ON, 5min/game + 3s/move now with this latest version. Besides the occasional "doesn't ponder bug" I have 8 losses on time (and one complete crash for unknown reasons).ymatioun wrote:Updated executables are uploaded to https://sites.google.com/site/fizbochessengine/
That is not a huge number but with an increment of 3s per move that should not happen at all.
Nothing big, but I leave games which are lost on time in as it is a "feature" of the engine!
Besides that it seems to work fine, thx

Re: Fizbo 1.7 is released
Unfortunately that is not true. The engine is crashing in mate positions with maximum eval, at least in the Classic GUI:IWB wrote:

This problem together with the time losses I decided to stop testing here, which is a pitty as it might be a new No. 11 in my list ...
I think the engine needs some more 'polishing'

Re: Fizbo 1.7 is released
Sorry about this: i think these problems are caused by illegal moves on PV. This did not come up before, when PV was short.
I just changed the executables to fix this situation; i hope the fix works. And i will continue cleaning this up for next release.
