From 1950's all engines are derivative.

It is OK if they say it is OK. It is their tourney, and they can run whatever they like.

I love this so called "derivate programs".

They are 200 elo points stronger than the so called "original programs".

Someone who tells you that he make a chesssoftware from the scratch without copying something is in 99 cases of 100 a lair.

I would say "Is it ok to participate?", but nevermind :)

Some developers need twenty years or more to create an engine with ELO 2800. Others a few minutes.

This is simply plain wrong. I still wonder why non-programmers cannot see the difference between 'copying' and 'learning' from code.
And BTW there are much more than 1/100 who never read any other sources of other programs for creating an own program.

IMO this attitude which tries to belittle stupid cloning and stupid derivating (yes this exists too!) is the main reason why it gets worse and worse.

Like "is it ok for a terrorist (like bin ladin when he was alive) to be president of the USA"? instead of "is it ok for isis to participate in a democratic election".

I estimate that IF isis was allowed to participate in american elections, it would win the whole thing.

Agreed.
.

Opinions expressed here are my own, and not necessarily those of the CCRL Group.

If I say no, does that mean Glaurung is the rightful Season 6 champion?
