New intel i7s

Post by Ponti »

I´m interested in chess benchmarks of:

i7 7700K
i7 6800K

I´ve searched Stockfish benchs (by Sedat) but it is not listed.

If you own one of these, could you please post the results ?

Thanks in advance.

The world is waiting on the benchmarks of the new AMD Ryzen.

Its time to have patience.

Maybe the AMD RyZen will compare favorably to an Intel 7700K with 8 cores vs 4 cores, but it will have a hard time beating the Intel top-dogs like 5960X, 6950X and the new Sky-Lake-X and Kaby-Lake-X processors that seem to be in the pipeline for later this year.

mark lefler (sp?; sorry) posted that intel really hasn't been showing significant gains for several generations. so if AMD has actually caught up (ish), its still a very positive sign for things to come.

Let´s wait, but... I think AMD is going to release Ryzen to the videogame market only.
Cinebench does not correlate with chess benchmarks.

*IF* it will be much cheaper AND scores well in chess benchmarks it will be a winner.
So, you´re right, let´s wait.

My question is: which one is better for chess, 6800K or 5930K ? (both are 6-core i7s).

This isn't what you're asking for, but it's the same generation, tested using Sedat's benchmark:
26557 kn/s 10 core 6950x @ 4.37 Ghz @ 1.371 V

If Ryzen is better than an i7-7700K, there remains one question: will it be cheaper ? What about the motherboards ?
