Chess Performance enhancing drugs!

Summary: methylphenidate and modafinil seem to help chess performance. Data is a bit skewed since the drugs made players actually play slower, causing more time losses. but the drugs appeared to improve performance by 9-15%. More data is needed to conclude much.

Caffeine 9 percent, seems too much.
How much do these data mean in the Rating Elo. :D

Please do not try giving chess engines Caffeine.

The experiment looks a bit flawed, but it is always hard to get enough data.

i agree it'd be nice to know what "X percent" means in this case...the method was probably too esoteric for non computer chess types, but those same types may be able to poke holes in it.

it seems obvious to me controlled amphetamine (for example) use will give an advantage to the average chess player; at the top level, i've always wondered if the possible side effects are worth the risk given those players innate abilities. but i strongly encourage these studies to continue, i've wanted testing in major tournaments for some time (had no idea it was already present, if that's actually true?)

while i do agree the biggest advantage gained would be at classical time controls, i wouldn't discard blitz & faster games, where improved reaction time becomes a factor.

Such drugs are helpful for short-term results, e.g. when one is playing an important tournament, but they may have severe long-term side effects (burnout). For continuous improvement of one's mental ability, a normal amount of sleep, physical exercise and a diet avoiding high glycemic index foods are believed to work better.

It seems so unnecesary to jepordize ones health with such dubious drugs, when you can get stuff which is probably much better and healthier too.
Here is a recent thing i came accross which might be great.

I know I play a LOT better chess online when I have a morning coffee :D At least a 100 ELO points better. Not sure if it has more to do with having a fresh brain after a good night's sleep or because it is due to the caffeine in the coffee. Probably a bit of both!

No!
I've ordered other supplements from Zebra Acadie and spoken to him by phone a few times.

How can it be fake? Did someone else use his name?

This is the regular site
http://www.eckloniacava.com/store.html

Surprising that it doesn't include this product, but i don't think he is claiming that it is his product or website. Do you have proof that it is fake?

Your first given link is redirected to:

http://goodoppnous.com/de/wcks/intelige ... yqneFrLsaj

this is just one of dozens 'Forbes' fake sites.

Stephen Hawking never used that 'pill'...
I hope you are still fine, because the site is also listed at malwarebytes, for javascript trojan injections.

https://blog.malwarebytes.com/cybercrim ... drug-news/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments ... rbes_site/

It seems you naively clicked a fake link (=redirected to another place) in one of your mails?
You never should do this, before checking where the link really goes.
