FEOBOS v7 is available (book, databases ...)

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

FEOBOS v7 is now available after Booot and Texel analysis and in additional my update 1 database I am working the last weeks.

Texel is now on position 2/7 in KECR (ECO Code Ratings).
Booot is on 1 at the moment.

Texel have great results to many of the different 500 ECO codes. Texel is an Engines with a very small number of 0,00 evals (in comparing to the others, good). Contempt not needed!

Style is also complete different to the others (have a look under similarties). Indeed a very strong and interesting engine, wrote a lot about it in my older playing style description. For me not a surpise that Texel is so strong in openings.

Updated are ...
- opening books in Chessbase and Shredder format.
- databases in pgn / epd
- graphics from all the Excel worksheets by Klaus Wlotzka.

Each of the positions have an own ranking.
FEOBOS test-set v7 of the best of the 500 positions will be soon available. I think on Weekend. But you can see the positions numbers in Excel worksheet, the complete ranking system.

FEOBOS details can be found under:

Hi Frank,

as I noticed pv output is very important for your FEOBOS, I wish to say that Daniel recently fixed an output bug. Some search depth output were skipped. If it can be useful for you, I give you a link of a version Daniel released with that bugfix.

http://www.andscacs.com/downloads/andscacs091150.zip

With option "always show full PV" turned on, it should work fine.

Have nice work... and fun! :)

Hi Rodolfo,

Oh, never notice this update.
Hm, which of the executable is the BMI2 compile?

I have "full PV" as UCI Option = on and of course "Contempt" = off.

Not sure, which version I should test now, because not sure is the fast BMI2 compile in the download!

Thanks for your tipp!

Better to ask Daniel for a BMI2 compile before proceding.

Here it is the last developing version if you wish to use it:

http://www.andscacs.com/downloads/andscacs091199.zip

Seems to be like 15 elo better (against other engines).
No BMI2 compile inside, as I have done a change in magic bitboards and somehow it crashes this type of compilation now. Anyway the increased strenght more than compensates for any speed win of bmi2.

Hi Daniel,

I think I will make no changes with the version number of Andscacs.

Because I have now around 1.500 of 26.146 positions. Will not lost analyze time. Feobos version 10 should be ready to January 01, 2018.

15 Elo more ... great ... you do really a good work with Andscacs. I wrote this more times and I like your engine a lot.

But for opening analysis are 15 Elo nothing.
Version 0.91 runs here without any problems.

I am very interested in KECR results (Rating List to the ECO codes by Klaus Wlotzka). Andscacs is playing after the opening systems very stable and light aggressive without bigger mitakes / blunders. Optimal for that what we do with FEOBOS. Means, absolutely sure that Andscacs produced with the nice style your engine have a strong result.

Hi Leo,

Standard PC with 6 Cores with a good cooler and 4.3 Ghz. Good enough for the FEOBOS project with 1-minute time for each of the positions.

After FEOBOS I have interest on i9 with 20 Cores x 2 (2 PCs). But here I wait of the second i9 processor from Intel, I think will be available end of 2018.

The temparature from the first i9 is to high in my opinion.
