Godzilla Endgame Chess Puzzles (2)

Post by Glarean »

The second quartet of the series "Godzilla Endgame Chess Puzzles" has been released:
https://glarean-magazin.ch/2017/10/14/c ... e-staffel/

The GECP test contains very difficult chess positions - even for today's engines.
(Use "translate" at the bottom right).

The first edition of the GECP can be found here:
https://glarean-magazin.ch/2017/09/30/s ... s-puzzles/

You can copy/download all puzzles (FEN / PGN).

Walter, one correction in number 6: after 1.Nf6 Rxd5 2.Nxd5 f5 now is mate in 8 with 3.Kb6 (no 3.Rc5).

I started a test with this 14 positions (GECP1+GECP2+6 old). The set is at the bottom of this post.

Condition 5 min/position, 6 pieces Syzygy (except for StingSF) , 6*4GHz.

4 engines (SF family) used :
Sting-sf-89 (no EGTB) : 9 of 14 matching moves
Stockfish_171011_x64_modern : 5 of 14 matching moves
SF-McBrain-27_x64_modern : 6 of 14 matching moves
Stockfish_171011_matefinder : 7 of 14 matching moves

Only 3 positions never found : #2, #11 and #12.

Position #13(a6) is easy to find (but the point is to find the mate).

I'll run a longer test with multiple runs later.

Yes, I know :?
I need to get a session of at least 2 hours to make a significant advance on the set. I didn't get such a motivation for a long time.
